One thing I try to do is reduce how much waste I produce while making jewelry. For much of what I create, it's a subtractive process where I remove what I don't want/need; this creates a lot of little tiny bits. Enter: precious metal clay! This is a nifty creation that merges powdered metals with a binder and water. You work with it like you would clay, and after it dries the binder burns off in the kiln and the metal 'sinters' and comes out as metal and is handled as if it had been cast from that metal.
Many years back I created a poster titled "Crane" that was insanely popular. I decided to experiment with PMC and see if I could reproduce that poster in metal. Here's the first stage: bronze PMC, very wet, with some rough areas that still need work. Once I've got this refined where I want it, I'll create a mold from it and will then be able to cast this in three different metals to give it super nice color.
I'll also be doing another run of my posters and offer a poster/necklace bundle!
